Supporting families battling childhood cancer requires all of us.
EXPRESS, CREATE, HEAL: THE CHILDHOOD CANCER CHAPTER
Partners
& Awards
At our core, we believe in collaboration. Working with our partners, we aim to connect childhood cancer patients with the mental health and wellness resources they need, bridging the gap to real-world support and healing.
Express, Create, Heal powered by A Moment of Magic aims to do the following:
-
Improve the coping skills that can reduce the risk of mental and behavioral problems for survivors of childhood cancer by utilizing peer-based social learning programs
-
Increase access to mental health resources for children and families, facilitating their ability to seek support and engage in self-care practices.
-
Empower and educate the community to provide stronger support for childhood cancer fighters, survivors, siblings, and caregivers.
By bringing together diverse stakeholders and resources, ECH addresses the multifaceted needs of the childhood cancer community.
Our partners make the following possible:
-
In-person ECH programs for childhood cancer fighters, survivors, and siblings in partnership with hospitals and nonprofit organizations in their community. These programs focus on various topics, including fostering self-expression, bolstering self-esteem, and equipping children with coping strategies unique to the childhood cancer experience.
-
The ECH Resource Hub and Support Sessions offer complimentary virtual access, linking families with crucial mental health and wellness resources, training sessions, and educational materials to bolster the well-being of both their children and themselves.
-
Our ECH Education Courses empower professionals across nonprofit, education, and medical fields, equipping them with the tools to effectively navigate the unique hurdles encountered by families impacted by pediatric cancer (coming Fall 2024).
-
Through community-wide initiatives, we strive to heighten awareness, deepen understanding, and nurture empathy for the challenges faced by families affected by pediatric cancer, fostering a more compassionate and resilient support ecosystem, and approaching healthcare in a more holistic way.

Thanks to Aerie's steadfast support, we successfully packed over 200 backpacks, enriching our ECH programs nationwide and empowering teenagers on their mental health journeys.
Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation
Thanks to the generous backing from the Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation, we've propelled Express, Create, Heal forward with remarkable speed. Their support enabled us to undertake extensive research and development, creating 18 new Express, Create, Heal: The Childhood Cancer Chapter programs designed for in-person and virtual implementation.
In addition, we crafted 10 specialized trainings to equip our student volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively and responsibly lead these programs. Their support also facilitated hosting 6 virtual support sessions dedicated to childhood cancer fighters, survivors, siblings, and caregivers, fostering a supportive community even in the digital realm.
Furthermore, we organized 4 impactful in-person events, including our largest gathering at CureFest 2023, attended by 33 children aged 3 to 18.
David and Minnie Berk Family Foundation,
With immense gratitude for the backing of the David and Minnie Berk Family Foundation, we've been empowered to expand our services and strengthen AMoM's presence in New York. Their support has been instrumental in deepening our partnerships with hospitals and facilitating the hosting of our inaugural "Express, Create, and Heal" (ECH) workshops for our partners in New York City.
Looking ahead, we anticipate that their continued support will enable us to make a significant impact on the lives of over 50 fighters, survivors, and siblings affected by childhood cancer in NYC by January 2025.
Barclay-Giel Seed Grant
Thanks to the generous support of the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation (COF) for the Advancement of Public Health and the Barclay-Giel Seed Grant, our mission to bolster community-based public health initiatives receives invaluable reinforcement.
Through the support of COF, funds will be allocated to the development and implementation of educational programs tailored to address the unique challenges faced by children and families affected by childhood cancer. These workshops will provide a nurturing environment for emotional expression, creativity, and healing.
